Horses!
The most common type of horse that is used in polocrosse is the Australian Stock Horse. These horses are a combination of quarter horse and thoroughbred and have a natural affintity for the game. However, any type of horse can be used, so long as it is sound, under control and not a stallion. |
Horse Gear
In polocrosse, the emphasis is always on safety. The Australian Polocrosse Association requires that all saddles be fitted with a breastplate and surcingle. The saddle can be of any type except a western saddle because of the horn. The bit can be of any type so long as there are no protruding bar or sharp edgesAll horses must have bellboots and bandages on all four legs. Usually the mane is hogged to prevent tangling in the reins and the tail platted for presentation and safety

Player Gear
Players must wear an approved safety helment and riding boots. They also generally wear moleskins or jodpurs and matching team polo tops. Plyers can carry a whip and wear spurs if they wish. Spurs must not have any sharp edges on them and players must have one hand opn the reins at all times. |
